Web Design and Maintenance
Course description:
This is a FULL year course.
This course is designed to teach the theory and practice of planning and creating Web pages and Web sites. This course explores in depth Web development technologies such as Extensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Javascripts, design issues such as Web site usability and the evolving standards set forth by the World Wide Web consortium (W3C).
There is significant reading and notes are a substantial requirement of the course. Nonetheless, students learn principally by doing: creating Web pages then Web sites. Image editing, multimedia and animation are also explored in depth. Students are expected to master software tools such as Web editors and image editors since these tools are used extensively throughout the course. Copyright and Internet safety are explored. Students are expected to produce substantial product during the course.
